Absence Reporting
We are excited to offer students the opportunity to visit the HIS School Library before and after school beginning August 21, 2023 through May 10, 2024.
Before and after school the library provides students with a safe space for working on homework, reading, researching, and completing AR quizzes.
Students have access to textbooks, Chromebooks, and other resources.
Parents are not required to be present for students to use the library before or after school.
Please note that students must be picked up no later than 3:30pm.
After May 10, 2024, the library will only be open for students to return materials.
Before School
Monday– Friday 7:30 a.m. to 7:50 a.m.
After School
Tuesday– Thursday 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Minimum day
Tuesday -Thursday 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Be safe. Be respectful. Be responsible.
Respectful and courteous behavior is expected at all times.
Respect the library space: no trash on the floor, place books on carts, and clean up after themselves
Use technology appropriately
Students are expected to be actively working on assignments, projects or reading.
Before/After School Library is a privilege, not a requirement. Parents will be contacted if their student has been warned more than once about disrespectful behavior or misuse of the library. After 3 warnings, students may lose before/after school library privileges.
This year's summer library theme is Adventure Begins at Our Library. Students from ALL 17 schools may visit Golden Elementary on Tuesdays and Falcon Ridge on Thursdays from May 28th through July 2nd. Students will be able to read, take quizzes, get a head start on BOB, and check out books that can be returned at either summer library location. Students must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or sibling at least 13 years of age. This is not a drop off program, so a parent/guardian must stay with the student the entire time they are in the library.
The basic flyer is linked HERE.
Battle of the Books Sneak Peek is linked HERE. The full BOB list will be released by July 1st .
This information will be shared in the Library Google Classrooms before school is out and weekly during June. An email with this information will also be sent to parents.
The summer choice board activities and our summer district wide reading incentive will also be shared through the Library Google Classrooms all summer. Emails will be sent to parents so they know what their children have available. Our students will have a wide variety of resources available to them through the libraries whether they can attend in person or virtually during the summer.
iReady is available through 07/21/2024 and AR will be available through 7/12/2024.
The Summer Reading Program is a free reading program encouraging children, teens, and adults to read throughout the summer and participate in a fun and engaging reading challenge!
By joining the program, students have the opportunity to track reading hours, earn virtual badges, receive fun incentives, and participate in raffle drawings. Summer reading is important for readers of all ages, especially children, to help prevent “the summer slide,” and to develop and build a lifelong love of reading and learning.
The Summer Reading Program runs from Saturday, June 1, 2024, through Saturday, July 20, 2024. Registration and participation are completed through rcpl.beanstack.org on a personal computer or “Beanstack Tracker” app on Android and iOS devices.
