SAFETY! SAFETY! SAFETY! First and foremost, we realize that parking can be difficult. It is important that everyone does all they can to be safe!

We respectfully ask that parents and guests practice patience. We need to be examples to our students! They watch everything we say and do. The staff at Heritage Intermediate School is grateful for your patience and support. We are also open to suggestions and concerns. Feel free to contact the school office should you have any concerns or suggestions related to parking, drop-off, and/or pick-up.
Most parents drop off and pick up in front of the school. Traffic flows best when vehicles enter from South Heritage Circle onto East Liberty Parkway and exit using the south entrance back on to South Heritage Circle. During drop-off and pick-up, cones will be placed along South Heritage Circle to allow vehicles to exit quickly. Students who are crossing our parking lot are expected to cross in either of the two crosswalks: near East Liberty Parkway or near South Heritage Circle.
Parking behind the large black gate in front of the school is for HIS Faculty and Staff Only. Anyone choosing to park behind the black gate risks being locked in. Guests are not permitted to park in reserved spaces in front of the school.
We only allow two lanes on East Liberty Parkway, in order to allow for emergency vehicle access. Students may not load or unload from East Liberty Parkway.
The city of Fontana has designated South Heritage Circle as a "No Stopping Anytime" zone. This means that students may not unload or load from a vehicle at any point along South Heritage Circle. Signage will be out each day during drop-off and pick-up reminding parents and guardians of this expectation. School staff will remind parents and guardians who allow their child to unload or load along South Heritage Circle of this expectation. At times Fontana PD is observed ticketing those who violate this traffic law.
Our Bus Lane entrance is along South Heritage Circle. Stopping, parking, loading, and unloading in our bus lane is illegal. Parents who do so will be reminded by school staff to not use the bus lane. Some parents of students with specific needs have been given special passes permitting them to unload and load in the bus lane. It is essential that the bus lane is reserved for buses only or those with a special pass.
6th grade parents tend to use this parking lot to drop off and pick up their students, as this is nearest to 6th grade classrooms. Parents and guardians will enter from the southern most drive way and exit the northern most driveway. Parents and guardians are encouraged to pay close attention to the directions given by school staff and watch for cones. It is important that parents and guardians pull as far forward as possible so as to let as many cars into the parking lot as possible and alleviate congestion on South Heritage Circle.
For some events, we will open up our staff parking lot and hard courts to allow for attendees to park. Parents, guardians, and guests are also welcome to park in the dirt lot behind the Fontana Soccer Complex. Attendees are welcome to utilize neighborhood streets for parking, as well. We advise parents and guests to pay close attention to traffic signs to ensure that parking is legal.
We advise parents, guardians, and guests to be sure to arrive early to large events in order to find parking. At times, school staff will reserve specific parking spaces for handicapped parking or spaces will be reserved for District Office Employees or School Board Members. We ask that parents, guardians, and guests respect reserved spaces.
We will also have Campus Support out and about directing traffic and helping with parking for some events. They'll have bright vests on and will be able to answer any of your questions.
