Deana Vasquez

Welcome to the 2024/2025 school year at Heritage Intermediate School! I am thrilled to be your student's 6th -grade math and science teacher. This year marks my fourth year in teaching, which has become my second career, and I couldn't be more excited about the journey ahead.

A little about me: I am married with four amazing children, ages 24, 22, 18, and 15. Outside of teaching, my family and I love traveling and exploring the outdoors.

I am eager to embark on a year of exciting learning and growth with your student.

Mission For The Class

I strive to create a classroom environment where all students feel safe to learn. I encourage collaboration among students and promote asking for help when needed. I expect students to persevere through challenges and require them to explain their reasoning in mathematics. By setting high expectations and showing that we (teachers and parents) believe in their abilities, students will achieve at high levels.

This will be accomplished by giving students more time to practice the concepts and skills that are being taught in the core math classes.  This practice may be done in  a small group of peers or in a small group led by the teacher.  Re-teaching will be provided on an as-needed basis.
